Dear Friends of Marriage,
Victory in New Jersey! A few minutes ago, the New Jersey Senate rejected the same-sex marriage bill by a vote of 20-14!
Thank you! Thank you!
Many, many thanks to each of you who made phone calls, sent emails, and prayed to help protect marriage in New Jersey. Yet again, we have witnessed a tremendous victory for marriage in a state where just a few months ago, victory seemed unlikely at best.
And it is your involvement that has made the difference. First in Maine. Then in New York. Now in New Jersey, today's vote marks a major victory possible only because of the tireless efforts of many, many coalition members, and the overwhelming voter outcry against same-sex marriage.
Today's victory likely blocks same-sex marriage in New Jersey for at least four years, as incoming Governor Christie has promised to veto any same-sex marriage measure that would come to his desk.
It is a day to celebrate, even as we ready for the next challenges looming on the horizon.
Thank you again, for all you to do protect marriage in this great land!
